Andhra, Telangana cinema Theaters Closed From 2nd March
Movie theaters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be closed (shut down) (no films shows screening) from 02-03-2018 (2nd March) onwards. The reason that they have initiated a indefinite strike from tomorrow is that the cost of the (DSP) Digital Service Providers) is too high to be met. DSP’s directly relay movies straight to theater’s digital projection through satellite system. The cost for this procedure is as high as twenty two thousand five hundred (22, 500) per screen. After many turns of discussions and meetings between the Joint Action Committee of South Indian Film Industry and the digital service providers members to come to a reduced price proved inconclusive. Some of DSP’s are namely QUBE and UFO. Though all the four southern film industries (Telugu Tollywood, Tamil Kollywood, Malayalam Mollywood, Kannada Sandalwood) are united against their stand, new movies releases on 2nd March like Anushks Sharma’s Pari, Bruce Willis’s Death wish and other regional movies in the respective states are being released except in Andhra & Telangana (no shows), while in kerala there are no shows for any movie on 2nd March and from the next day shows are available. In these both Telugu speaking states there are no shows available from tomorrow and people might even will not be able to watch currently running movies. As per view in online ticketing sites such as bookmyshow, justickets the other three states karnataka, kerala and Tamil Nadu are having their movie releases as usual this week but there may be change in events from now. There are nearly five thousand cinema halls in south india using DSP and having an impact of their high prices. there are 2000 theaters in AP, TS states which use this digital service.
Andhra, Telangana state movie theatres will go on an indefinite strike from today i.e. (02-03-2018) 2nd March onwards. Though there are no tollywood big releases this week, bollywood releases Anushka Sharma’s horror film Pari an Pulkit Samrat’s Veerey Ki Wedding will be missed by Hyderabad viewers as well as the whole of the two states movie buffs. While Hollywood releases like bruce willis ‘Death Wish’, and Jennifer lawrence’s ‘Red sparrow’ will also be not shown. If this strike continues for too long, there are many big budget telugu movies lined up which may have to face this tough situation but many believe that this issue will be resolved as soon as possible.
